Contact lenses don’t necessarily replace spectacles and can be worn occasionally, for a special occasion or sport activity. We offer a wide range of contact lens option that will suit you and your lifestyle.
Anyone interested in wearing contact lenses will need a comprehensive eye examination to that establish what type of contact lenses is best suited for you.
Our expert team is guiding you during the first trial lens fit and showing you how to handle these medical devices. After this a scheduled follow up will confirm the type and power of your contact lenses to finalize your annual prescription. To avoid sight threatening complications, regular follow up is of ultimate essence when you are a contact lens wearer.
Olympia Optics believes that young children are also candidates for Contact Lenses. Scientific research shows that some some children and/or teenagers benefit from contact lenses more than form spectacles. For more information on Myopia control vs. Myopia correction visit our blog.
Low vision is a visual impairment that cannot be corrected by standard glasses, contact lenses, medication or surgery. It may occur as a result of birth defects, injury, a complication resulting from disease within the eye – or simply the ageing process, and interferes with the ability to perform functional everyday tasks such as shopping, reading, cooking or just watching TV.
Macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, glaucoma, and retinitis pigmentosa are some causes of low vision. In most cases there may not be a cure but you can be helped.
Olympia Optics offers eye testing for low vision patients and stocks a range of modern magnifying tools, electronic visual aids and hand-held magnifiers.
An estimated one in five children have some kind of vision problem. Often these problems go undetected throughout childhood.
It is important to have the first eye test early, latest by the age of 5.
Thereafter, at least every 2 years if no vision correction is required, and annually for children who need glasses or contact lenses or as recommended by their optometrist or ophthalmologist.

Eye examinations can reveal much more than vision problems. If you haven't had an eye exam in the past one or two years, contact us to schedule an appointment.
This is a comprehensive examination of each eye and then also an assessment on how the eyes work together. The outcome from this examination establishes a baseline acuity (vision potential of your eyes) and becomes vital in monitoring any aspects of your eye health in the future.
Additional to measuring and recording your vision by performing a subjective refraction (optimizing your vision with optical lenses); an optometrist also examines the health of the anterior segment and the posterior segment of the eye. This is to exclude any sight threatening diseases such as Cataracts and Glaucoma. A patient who has systemic diseases such as diabetes or high blood pressure should have their eyes tested on an annual basis.
